Using PowerPoint Theme Colors

Keeping colors consistent throughout a presentation is important. PowerPoint's 'Theme Colors' feature ensures that each new element you create stays within a specified color palette. The best part- you can customize the palette so that you always stay on brand.

Open the PowerPoint you're working on, or download our free template, and follow these simple steps to learn how to change the theme colors of your presentation.

STEP 1

Click on the View tab at the top of the program and select Slide Master. Under the Slide Master tab, select Colors. A dropdown list of preloaded color palettes will appear. At the very bottom of the list select Customize Colors.

STEP 2

A pop up box will appear with 12 customizable color slots. You can change the current theme colors by clicking on the color box to the left of the slot name. The color window will appear and you can select the color you'd like. Close the color window, select the next slot, and repeat!

STEP 3

When you are happy with your color selection, name your Theme Colors and hit save. Once you're finished, be sure to test out your Theme Colors by creating new shapes, text boxes, charts and tables.
